He fills the gaps

Part of me regretted agreeing to it as the final plans came together.

The plan: I would drive to Cato, a suburb of Syracuse, where I would pick up a 32-foot RV. Then, I would drive that RV by myself to the Atlanta, Georgia, metro area, where I would pick up a friend in need and her husband. Two of the three of us would then drive the RV back to northern New York.

The problem? There were gaps in this plan. First, I had no clue where I was leaving my Jeep while I was driving this RV. Second, and more significant, I had no experience driving an RV or anything remotely that large. I wasn’t sure I could do it. I was terrified.

As I was thinking about these holes in the plan, I remembered something a mentor/friend has told me several times: God fills the gaps.

My mentor/friend usually tells me this when I’m dwelling on some part of me that I don’t think is “enough.” God fills the gaps. He’s enough for everything and everyone.

And God filled the gaps.

God brought forward my friend, Jonathan “Monkey” Monfiletto, also a friend of the individual in need, to help. Monkey let me leave my Jeep at his house, and he drove me to the RV pickup. He used benefit time, taking a half day off work to help.

And God filled in the gaps to cover my lack of experience. I’m not kidding when I say I didn’t have to change lanes once in the first three hours of the trip. It was like God gave me a little opportunity to get more comfortable or at least less scared. God gave me kind people who encouraged me at gas stations and rest stops along the way. While there were a few scary moments, there were no major incidents during the three-day journey, and we all reached our destinations safely.

God filled the gaps.

I have no regrets about that.
